Strategic decision

Automating coil packaging in steel and aluminium plants is a strategic decision that brings numerous benefits, both for the safety of workers and for the efficiency of results and competitiveness of the company.

For over 20 years, IPYMETAL has been distributing equipment from our partner VCI BRASIL, modern equipment with mechanical, electrical and pneumatic actuators (avoiding hydraulic actuators) and with minimal operator involvement.

Worker safety. Handling coils at height with workers nearby is avoided.

Improved packaging process efficiency. By switching from manual to automatic packaging, the rate compared to manual packaging goes from one reel every 20 minutes, with 2-3 operators, to more than 15 reels per hour, with only one operator and without full-time dedication. In addition, the time spent using overhead cranes and/or forklifts is reduced.

Consistency and quality. As they are wrapped by a machine and not by different workers on different shifts, the wrapped coils always have the same appearance, with a noticeable improvement in consistency as the machine applies a tension much higher than that which can be applied manually to the packaging.

Reduction of the references and dimensions of the packaging products, since the machine can work with just one reference , of reduced width. In addition, different types of packaging can be combined: stretch film only , film + raffia, film + raffia + VCI (anti-corrosion protection) and the machine can even be configured to apply cardboard or PVC corners to the corners of the reels.
